Inspirations and Aspirations

Join us for an enchanting lunchtime concert organised by Barocco Foundation in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, featuring the timeless combination of flute and piano.  International flautist Laura Cioffi accompanied by talented pianist Maria-Elena Farrugia will perform at the magnificent Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta on Tuesday 22 October at 12:30 pm. 

Our lunchtime concert opens with the enchanting “Cantabile et Presto”, by G. Enescu, a piece that beautifully showcases the lyrical and virtuosic qualities of the flute.  Following this, we will be treated to the delicate and evoctive “Nocturne” by L. Bouanger, a work that captures a sense of serenity and introspection.  The concert continues with the elegant “E minor Sonata,” by J.S. Bach, a cptivating piece that highlights the seamless interplay between flute and piano.  This will be followed by the contrasting movements of “Adagio ma non tanto – Allegro – Andante – Allegro”, where each movement offers a unique blend of tempos and emotions.

This intruiging concert will conclude with two contemporary pieces: Coltrane by D. Heat, a dynamic work insipired by the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane, and A. Fox’s Infinity, a piece the  explores intircate harmonies and melodic dialogues between the flute and piano.
