Barocco Foundation in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa presents the inaugural weekly lunchtime concert of the season which promises to be a captivating experience featuring promising soprano Mardy Farrugia accompanied by talented pianist Elaine Mercieca. This eagerly anticipated performance will take place at the magnificent Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta, on Tueday 1st October 2024 at 12:30pm.
The captivating programme opens with the enchanting “Me rendi pur contento”, a piece that beautifully showcases the soprano’s ability to convey deep emotion through delicate, bel canto phrasing. Following this, the audience will be transported by the dreamlike quality of Claude Debussy’s “Nuit d’étoiles,” which evokes the beauty of a starlit night. The concert will proceed with Richard Strauss’s poignant “Allerseelen”, a song filled with tender longing and rich harmonies.
This musical jouney continues with Victor Herbert’s lively and charming “Art is Calling for Me”. Following this, the spotlight will shift to a solo performance by the talented painist Elaine Mercieca, who will bring Paolo Tosti’s “La Serenata” to life. This delightful programme will conclude with a stunning trio of pieces, beginning with Gabrieal Fauré’s evocative “Rencontre”. Next, Franz Schubert’s “Ständchen” will enchant the audience with its tender melodies and fianlly Giacomo Puccini’s iconic “Quando m’en vo” from La Bohème, a vibrant aria that will leave the audience enthralled.
My Heart Sings – Arias and Songs for Soprano -: will be held at Our Lady of Victory church, Valletta on Tuesday 01st October 2024 at 12:30pm.
