An illustrated talk at Dwejra Tower, Gozo hosted by Din l-Art Ħelwa with special guest speaker Johan Siggesson, Fine Art Nature Photographer and author.

‘Where Wild Orchids Grow’ is the first published title in the MARVELLOUS MALTA book series about the natural beauty that is all around us. This limited-edition publication is packed with 100 large-format images of Maltese Orchids, taken by the award-winning nature and wildlife photographer Johan Siggesson.

During the recent COVID pandemic, Johan was stranded in Malta and decided to work on a photographic project that later turned into a photographic publication showcasing Malta’s beautiful, wild orchids.

‘Not many of us, including myself when embarking on this journey, know that 37 species of wild orchids are embellishing our surroundings. Six months of the year they honour us with their presence. This first book in the Marvellous Malta series is fully devoted to these fascinating and spectacular flowers.’ (Johan Siggesson)

Johan has a passion for capturing the beauty of the natural world. Born and raised in Sweden but living in Malta for over 20 years, the photographer has always been drawn to the outdoors and the stunning nature and animals around us. After a career in graphic design, he began to focus on capturing the beauty of nature through the lens of a camera. Siggesson’s work is characterised by a unique blend of traditional and modern techniques.
Over the years, Johan has traveled extensively to capture the beauty of mainly animals and his work has been featured in magazines, galleries and exhibitions. He has also won several international awards for his photographs. Through his work, Siggesson hopes to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and to take action to protect it for future generations.
