Invitation – Tour 3  Dwejra Tower, Wied il- Meilaħ window, Cittadella Gozo

Din l-Art Ħelwa is organising the third tour for 2017 to Heritage sites and properties under its management. This tour will be going to Gozo, visiting Dwejra Tower enjoying the view from the roof of the Dwejra area, which includes the Fungus rock, the Inland Sea and sadly the missing window.  Participants will be regaled however by visiting the window at Wied il-Meilaħ.  We shall then proceed to visit the Cittadella and participants can walk around the newly refurbished ditch and the quaint streets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ian Camilleri a volunteer with DLĦ, will coordinate this tour in collaboration with the Gozo sub-committee.

The tour is set for the Saturday 27th May 2017 and the details are as follows:

  • A donation of euro10 paid in advance to secure booking and to cover minivan costs. All proceeds go towards restoration and conservation projects. Participants will pay for the ferry tickets.
  • Bookings will be on a first come first served basis (maximum 20 participants).
  • Participants are to make their way to Cirkewwa and make sure to take the appropriate ferry so as to arrive in Mgarr by not later than 9am.
  • Ian will meet all participants at the entrance to the Mgarr Terminal where a minivan will waiting.
  • Tour starts at 9 am and the first stop will be at Dwejra tower where we will be welcomed by Simon who will also brief us about the tower and the Dwejra area.
  • The next stop will be Wied il-Mielah window where we can appreciate the chunky structure and the sinkhole erosion features nearby.
  • The tour will next take the group to the Cittadella, where we can appreciate the newly restored bastions, ditches etc. and time permitting stop for tea / coffee before we return to Mgarr terminal.
  • Tour will end not later than 1pm

It is suggested that participants wear appropriate walking shoes and bring a bottle of water with them.
