DLĦ and BOV announce winners of photography competition

Competition aimed at encouraging environmental awareness

The four winning photographs in the Din l-Art Ħelwa and Bank of Valletta photography competition will be put on display in the Majjistral Park’s Visitors’ Centre as well as on the Bank’s social media channels.

The photographic competition – the 7th organized by Din l-Art Ħelwa – was the result of the two organisations’ belief in the importance of awareness about the beauty of the natural environment.

The competition was open for children between 10 and 16 years, and all photos had to be taken at Majjistral Park. DLĦ is part of the Heritage Parks Federation management which runs the Park.

The winners are:

FAUNA

First Place: Ava Vozarova.

Second Place: Emily Caselli

Second Place: Alexander Bugeja

A prize of €300 was awarded to each of the winning entries and €200 for the second-placed entrants. The judging panel was composed of Din l-Art Ħelwa and Bank of Valletta members.

DLĦ Education Officer Stanley Farrugia Randon said: “We hear so much about the negative aspects: the DLĦ Heritage and Environment Protection Committee is constantly fighting against inappropriate development. But it is also important to explain why we need to protect the environment and we firmly believe that the generations of the future need to be aware of the beauty of our natural environment. This positive approach is the best way to build up determination to save it.”

Head of BOV’s CSR Programme Charles Azzopardi said: “Through such initiatives the bank continues expanding its responsibility towards the current and future generations. Our natural environment is constantly at risk, so the bank is constantly trying to raise awareness and educate towards a more sustainable future. This photographic competition is a prime example of how BOV ensures that the community in which it operates continues growing through the education of our younger generations.”
