DWEJRA WITH FLAG OF THE ORDER

METEOR SHOWER NIGHT OBSERVATION AT DWEJRA TOWER.

As part of its 50th Anniversary calendar of events, Din l-Art Helwa is pleased to announce that the coastal watch tower at Dwejra, Gozo will be open to the public by volunteers on the evening of August 14 2015 from 9pm until 1.00am. This will enable members of the public the opportunity to witness the Perseids’ Meteor Shower (The Tears of St Lawrence) in one of the few remaining areas free of light pollution on the Maltese Islands.

Also at the tower will be a member of The Astronomical Society of Malta, Dr Michael Nolle who will give short talks through the evening about the night sky visible from Dwejra.

As the tower is at the top of an unlit track visitors are advised to wear sensible shoes and to bring a torch.

Entrance is free of charge but donations for the upkeep of the tower by Din l-Art Helwa will be gratefully accepted. For further information please contact Nigel Brittain by email on jayneandnigel@gmail.com
