Din l-Art Helwa is organising the fourth tour to Heritage sites and properties for the dual purpose of:

• Offering sponsors, members, friends and supporters of DLH a unique opportunity to experience the built heritage and the environmental sites.

• Raise funds from donations collected from the participants

Ian Camilleri a volunteer with DLH is coordinating this tour titled Clapham Junction Cart Rut Experience, the largest most well known and most important of the existing cart-rut sites in Malta. The tour is approximately two hours (on site) and will be conducted by author Gordon E. Weston (The Maltese Cart-Ruts Unravelling an Enigma 2010: Clapham Junction 3000 Years of Maltese Heritage 2015). Gordon will be pointing out particular features, judged to be particularly informative when it comes to attempting to answer the many questions surrounding the Maltese cart-rut phenomenon: questions such as, are the ‘ruts’ actually cart-ruts, how did they come to form in the bedrock, when did they first begin to form and what is their cultural significance? We will also be looking out for examples of local flora that might be showing at the time of the tour.

This tour is set for the Saturday 22^nd October 2016. It will involve walking around the cart-rut site, viewing punic tombs and a cave, all within a radius of some 200m. This tour is recommended for reasonably fit persons.

Please note details as follows:

• A donation of euro10 paid in advance to secure booking.
• Bookings will be on a first come first served basis.

• Tour starts at 9am. All participants to meet at the Msida Bastions Historic Gardens where parking is readily available on a Saturday morning.

• Transport will be provided to the site and the mini-van will stay with the group for the duration of the tour.

• Tour will end by about 12.30pm with the minivan returning participants back to MB Historic Gardens.

• Participants are invited to stay on (till no later than 1pm), for a coffee or tea and a chat with Gordon before you leave. Please inform the office when you book so we have an idea of numbers staying.

It is suggested that participants wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and bring a bottle of water. The minibus will be with us all the time.
