Half day activity at the Majjistral Park – 13 March at 9.45 am

The first pyramidal orchids are out! Schoolchildren on a nature walk this month were lucky with all the special endemic Maltesers around … Maltese orchids, Maltese Spurge, Maltese Sea chamomile, Maltese varieties of vines and olives and last but not least .. the Maltese Goat!

Join us for a half day activity at the park and learn more about nature, rural heritage and sustainable farming.

We will be meeting a local farmer who will guide us around part of the park which is being converted into an organic farm.

If we are lucky we will catch a glimpse of the very rare Maltese Goat – an endangered local species.

Our nature walk will take us along one of the paths of the park which at this time of the year is rich in orchids and garigue species in full bloom.

Towards noon we will return towards Manikata where we will join members of the Manikata Farmers Cooperative who will take us along their rural heritage trail at the end of which we will have a traditional snack of Maltese ħobż biż-żejt (Maltese bread with sun dried tomatoes and olive oil) as well as taste their own homemade wine.
