Lecture – ‘The Statue-Menhirs of Prehistoric Sardina’, by Krista Paris on 10 Dec at 6 pm

The monthly cultural presentation organised by Din l-Art Helwa on Thursday, 10th December is a talk by Krista Paris on the Statue-Menhirs of Prehistoric Sardinia which will illustrate the results of research and studies made on the 250 menhirs discovered on the island, their shapes, iconography, context and location. Statue-menhirs are megalithic standing stones consisting of a carved human or human-like statue of life or larger size.

Krista Paris took up her interest in archaeology at a very early age and has worked on projects such as the Chapel of The Bones in Valletta, the Mdina excavations and the Mnajdra Temples with a specific interest in Mediterranean Prehistory . She is currently reading for a Masters Degree in Archaeology under the guidance of Dr Nicholas Vella, focussing specifically on the Prehistoric Menhirs of Sardinia.

The lecture will take place at 133 Melita Street, Valletta and will commence at 6 p.m. Those intending to attend are invited to be seated by 5.45. Entrance is free of charge but donations to Din l-Art Helwa’s restoration programmes will be appreciated.
